If a Car Stalls in the Forest …

I took this odd photo this past week. I was a little startled [a word easier to write than say; does anyone say “startled” anymore?] to stumble on this while trudging in the woods not far from where I live.

The car is surrounded by biggish trees with no road in sight. How did it get here? It would’ve taken a hugely serious effort to place the carcass [sorry, couldn’t resist] in the woods. I have a feeling Harry Potter had something to do with this; or maybe Gary Numan.
A Car in the Woods
And then I looked to dear old helpful – yet increasingly insidious – google and searched two explicit phrases:

“abandoned car in the woods”
“abandoned car in the forest”

Now lightly clench your right fist, raise your pinky and raise to touch your bottom lip and say aloud google’s results, “In total over one million hits”.

WTF! The world is full of this crazy, startling, phenomenon. Yet, once again, Albert Einstein comes to the rescue:

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science”.
